about

"Forward" is an acoustic blues original written and performed live by Terence Blade. A protest piece, the song is about the continued collective perseverance among Black Americans in the face of systemic racism and inequality. Terence dedicates the first verse of the song to Black American Women; the second verse to Black American men; and the third verse to the Black American community as a whole. The song coalesces around 3 key messages Terry delivers to members of his community:

Remember to stay strong;
Remember to watch your back; and
Remember that I will die for you.

The song will be released on June 18, 2021 in honor of Juneteenth (Emancipation Day).

lyrics

Tell my sista' to stay strong
Remember tell my sista' to stay strong
Cuz I know the system done my sista' wrong

Tell my brotha' always watch your back
Tell my brotha' always watch your back
Cuz I know the system won't give my brotha' no slack

Tell my people that I will die for them
Tell my people that I will die for them
Just so they can be free of the system
